Preschool through 5th Grade

Students in preschool through 5th receive daily instruction in a comprehensive English Language Arts program.  Students in grades K-5 utilize the Journeys curriculum. The focus of instruction allows for reading both literature and informational texts, for acquiring foundational skills, and for developing mastery of speaking, listening and writing.  Instruction for our youngest students begins with identifying letters and their sounds, then teaches students how to blend these letters into words.  Specific decoding skills are practiced in small groups.

6th through 8th Grade

Daily Language Arts instruction in grades 6 through 8 focuses on continuing to develop speaking, listening, and writing through study of classical literature and informational text.

Library

Students in each grade have weekly library and are able to check-oud books for personal use. The librarian also educates students on text features and genres to further reinforce concepts taught by classroom teachers. Resurrection's library contains additional resources for classroom learning, such as non-fiction books.

Social Studies

Students receive comprehensive instruction in Social Studies from Preschool through 8th grade.

Preschool through 5th Grade

The elementary grades use Into Social Studies.  Into Social Studies is a series of student magazines that deliver content designed for inquiry-based learning.  The resources are digital and provide students access to a wide selection of grade-level topics.  Included with the content are hands-on activities to assist students to process the information. In kindergarten, students begin with a study of community--home, school, and church.  As students progress through the curriculum, the topics are designed to expand the students' view of our world.

6th through 8th Grade

In middle school, students utilize Kansas History textbooks, Studies Weekly newspapers, and Discovery Education. These materials used incorporate both hardcopy materials and online learning materials, such as videos, current events, and supplemental materials.
